Affirmation:
Father, as we seek to see and know your face, may we each, as individuals and as a group, come to know ourselves, even as we are known, that we – as lights in You – may give the better concept of your Spirit in this world.
OR
Father, as we seek to see and know Your Face, may we get to know ourselves even as we are known by others. Since we are lights in You, may we may fully represent (to the world) the truth about who You are.
The Mental and Spiritual Bodies
In the same way we also have Mental and Spiritual desires. These are the key to building who we are. We have been doing this for ages, and there are many influences that effect it, including things like heredity and environment. But most important is how we have each been developing since we were first created as individual souls.
Today, we are the sum total of all of our experiences in all states of consciousness. By our thoughts and our acts, we are building who we are, physically, mentally, and spiritually. If our purpose in life is to fulfill the desires of our bodies, we can beautify our physical bodies while we starve ourselves spiritually, and we will have nothing good to give to others. Then, as Christ told the Pharisees, “You’re hopeless, you religion scholars and Pharisees! Frauds! You’re like manicured grave plots, grass clipped and the flowers bright, but six feet down it’s all rotting bones and worm-eaten flesh. People look at you and think you’re saints, but beneath the skin you’re total frauds.” (Mt 23:27-28 MSG) Remember, we become what we think about.
As souls, we have built patterns for ourselves. “When the clouds are full of water, it rains. When the wind blows down a tree, it lies where it falls.” (Eccl 11:3 MSG) You make your bed and you sleep in it! Every experience you have is meant for you! As we learn about ourselves, we will realize that each experience is a lesson to help bring us closer to Oneness with God, perfect unity with Him, even, “I and the Father are one.” (John 10:30 ESV)
When we measure our thoughts and acts by the standard of Christ, we will get to a place where our only desire is to be channels of blessings to others. At this point, we have lost sight of ourselves, even as He did! We then have the mind of Christ. “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:45 NLT)
Activities this week:
Who am I, physically, mentally, and Spiritually?
Do I consider what others think of me as an insult or as an opportunity to know myself more?
This week, be aware of yourself, and what others think of you. Be willing to live like a child of God.
Choose to desire to know yourself more deeply.
Choose to desire to know God more.
Choose to desire that your body would be only for God.
Remember that your body is the place where God resides.
Remember, what you constantly think about, you become.
