Last night I had the pleasant experience of a stomach flu (ugh!). It started with that little tickle in my throat… as the day went on, my body started aching EVERYWHERE, and soon I was freezing, covering myself with 3 blankets and writhing in body aches (myalgia) and nausea.
SCROLL TO VIEW MY PERSONAL RECOMMENDATIONS ON HOW TO BEAT INFECTIONS NATURALLY.
My first thought was to take Tylenol, which is very effective in relieving both fever and myalgias; but then I decided to experiment with my body. I thought I would ride out the fever; maybe the fever will kill the virus faster in my body, and I’ll recover faster. So I did.
I wrapped myself up in blankets and I let myself get hot. My temperature was at least 102. I monitored myself for delusions or nightmares; I had none, and I was able to stay alert whenever my wife walked into the room. If I saw any dangerous neurological changes, I would have taken Tylenol right away and cooling measures, but I was fine.
I did have nausea, so finally I took Phenergan, which worked great! Nausea is the worst!
The funny thing is that after I took the phenergan for the nausea, and I was bundled up under those blankets with a high fever, I actually felt comfortable. It was very interesting. I had never felt that before.
Well, the fever only lasted a few hours, from about 8 pm to 12 midnight! After that, I started to sweat, and the fever slowly came back to normal by the morning. I was left with lots of sore muscles! But I felt better, and I got consistently better throughout the day (today).
I did take another tylenol for the body aches, only because I was confident that the fever had run its course, and the illness itself was pretty much over.
I kept my stomach flu for under 24 hours total, and the fever for under 6 hours! Awesome!
A fever is the body’s natural defense mechanism against infection. At higher temperatures, the virus has trouble replicating, and the body is able to heal. My experience last night supports that theory.
UPDATE:
Well I thought that I got away with a 24 hour stomach flu. I was wrong! It came back with a sleeping bag and refused to leave! My flu continued on and off for a whole week. Misery, misery! It then left me with a light cough, which lasted another week or so. Thank heavens I’m all healed now, so I can return to a normal life.
HOW TO BEAT INFECTIONS LIKE THE FLU OR THE COMMON COLD, NATURALLY:
Sometimes we don’t appreciate the little things in life that keep life pleasant. Being able to wake up in the morning and have a fresh cup of coffee. Walking outside without feeling your whole body aching and sore. Being able to see!
Working in the hospitals and seeing patients that need a ventilator to breathe… that will teach you to appreciate your lungs, and their being able to function on their own, without the need for machines. Every day I am so thankful that I can breathe on my own. Thank you MotherFatherGod.
Next time you get the flu, avoid the Tylenol and Motrin, if it is mild. The warmth helps inhibit viral replication (it makes you get better faster.) If you’re real achy, go ahead and take some, but please never take more than the dosing on the bottle. Tylenol can cause liver failure, and Motrin (ibuprofen) can cause kidney failure.
Fluids, fluids, fluids! Lots of water and broths. Chicken broth is great for your immune system. I’m not big on tea, but herbal teas are excellent. Warm water with the juice of a fresh lemon squeezed in will help to alkalize your system, which will stop the virus from growing.
Instead of orange juice, eat fresh oranges. All types of melons are excellent because they are also very alkaline, which (according to Edgar Cayce and modern healers) is the key to resisting infection and staying healthy.
Generally speaking, fruits are easy to digest and have a high water content, which is great.
Avoid fried foods, heavy foods, creams, and fast food. These will congest your system, make your fever worse, and prolong healing time. Avoid a lot of starches and meats, also.
When your body starts getting hungry again, feel deeply and carefully, and feed your body what it is craving, in the healthiest form possible. Do NOT overeat! It will throw you back into the infection.
Finally, remember to stay positive. Feel deeply into your body. Breathe deeply and slowly. Appreciate the journey, and allow the Divine Spirit to work in you.
Being sick has pushed me to make some of my deepest spiritual growths. Let it be.
Well, hopefully that will help you get over the flu, or any infection, as fast as possible. It’s not fun, I know! Blessings, Peace, and Health. Cheers!

Research:
So I did some research, and here’s what I found:
At cold winter temperatures, the outer capsule of the flu virus hardens into a strong gel-like protective covering. This keeps it alive and makes it more contagious.

A fever of 104 or higher can result in seizures or delirium. A temperature that high or any signs of brain dysfunction need to be treated immediately with fever lowering strategies (Tylenol, ibuprofen, or cooling measures.) This is especially important in children, who are more susceptible to having febrile seizures. I do not recommend allowing fever in a child of over 102. Please consult with your doctor during an illness before making a decision.
http://www.naturalnews.com/027149_fever_virus_flu.html A great article on the advantages of allowing a fever to run its course. It describes how bundling up and then having a good sweat will usually cure the illness and not allow it to go deeper into the body. Also, you will feel better the next day. That was exactly my experience.
http://ebn.bmj.com/content/14/2/58.full “As fever is a natural response to illness, which is thought to support the body’s response to illness, then treating it might delay recovery; hence it is important to evaluate the necessity of reducing fever and the effect of reducing fever on illness duration, morbidity and mortality.”
