- Increases blood flow to your entire body — brain, liver, kidneys, digestive organs, hormonal centers — everything.
- Relaxing and rejuvenating.
- Opens up your nerve centers, clearing out toxins from the spinal cord.
- Relieves back pain, neck pain, and headaches. (Have you seen my headache meditation yet?)
- It’s also an excellent preparation for meditation! It balances, cleanses, and opens the spiritual centers (hormonal centers) in the body. (Learn how to meditate here.)
- Again, it’s a foundation of your overall health.
Hi, I’m Doctor Moses, and today I’m going to show you how to give yourself a complete spinal massage. Now, why would you want to do this? Well, the obvious reasons are that if you suffer from back pain, scoliosis, or tight back muscles, then this is going to help relieve the pain, soften those muscles, and relax your spine.
The not-so-obvious reason comes from the fact that your brain and spinal cord affect your entire body. They affect your muscles, they affect your digestive system, and they affect your hormones of your whole body and the blood flow. So when you give yourself this spinal massage, it’s going to open up the spine and allow the spinal nerves to come out and nourish your entire body. If you have any chronic diseases, and you want to be healing from those diseases, then you’ve got to look at your spine and do something that’s going to help your spinal health on a daily basis. Even high blood pressure, diabetes, or hypothyroidism. So let’s get started.
Now what you don’t want to hit is right in the center. If you touch your own spine, or someone else’s, you’ll feel some bones right in the middle. Those are the spinous processes, and if you hit on top of those, it’s just going to hurt. So you don’t want to do that.
The other place you don’t want to hit is the medial edge of the scapula. So the scapula is this triangular bone, the shoulder blade bones here. OK. So the medial edge is this bony edge right here, and you can feel it on someone if you’re there. The way to avoid that is by feeling the spine, and focusing your massage right next to the spine. If you stay right next to the spine, then you won’t hit the edge of the scapula and you won’t cause yourself pain.
To be able to give yourself a massage, you need a massager. Now, I recommend a percussion massager. This is the one that I use: It’s a Homemedics brand, and I’ll leave you a link for you to buy in the information box below.
Here’s the massager again. It has a setting here that changes the speed of the percussion. Now, this is not a vibrating massager, it’s a percussion massager. You could use a vibrating massager, but percussion is ideal. Now, as far as the speed setting, you can put it on whatever’s comfortable. Start it on a lower setting, and make sure it’s not just vibrating. You want to be hitting, somewhat. Use what’s comfortable for you.
Now, I’ll start out with my dominant hand, and I’ll use just one of these beats, and push it in the center of my head, and again, massaging and digging deep all the way out. Even here, below the ears, beside the head, here. Now when you’re over here; be careful, because this can cause you to have lower blood pressure, or feel faint. So don’t do outside of the neck here. Once you’ve gone around this area, you go back, and then you do the neck, and again, you’re pushing and digging, you’re pulling outward. Pulling outward. And then, circles. Just use one of the heads, again. Once you get to the shoulder area, then go like this, and dig into the trap muscles. The trapezius. You can do the shoulder; switch hands to do the shoulder if you’d like. OK.
Now, once we get to the area where we are going to be doing behind the scapula. We’re going to switch hands, bring this arm down, and then, use my left hand to get — not on top of the spine — but next to the spine, and just pull upward with both heads. And taking your time, digging and pulling upward. Dig and pull upward. All the way down, all the way down, all the way down.
And here, we’re going to switch hands, or using two hands, and using this one, just digging and pulling. Digging and pulling this whole lower back area. And then, the sacrum. So, all of this area here, you can gently do the coccyx, or tailbone. Go to the side of the coccyx, all around your sacrum. You can do the sciatic nerve, which is right in the center of your gluteus muscles; sometimes, I’ll relax by repositioning myself like this to relax those muscles, then, doing the hip. So you can feel your… you just, touch like that. You’ll feel your hip pointer, and you can massage your hip pointer and all around your hip join and all this area.
That’s it. And then, after that, you sit up, and switch sides, just like this, and do it again, for the other side.
After you give yourself this amazing massage, you’re going to be so relaxed. You can start your day, or, you can go into a deep meditation by listening to my spiritual guided meditation for chakra balancing.
