Leave: A Poem About Living with Abuse for Too Long.

Leave: A Poem About Living with Abuse for Too Long.

Don’t push me.
Don’t control me.
Don’t press into my borders.
Don’t blur my boundaries.

If you don’t like me, leave.
If you don’t trust me, leave.
If you can’t accept it, or you can’t accept me, leave.
If you don’t want me, well I don’t need you.
So leave.

Don’t hit me.
Don’t punch me.
Don’t curse me.
Don’t belittle me.

Don’t yell at me.
Don’t attack me.
Don’t criticize me.
Don’t insult me.

If you don’t think I’m good enough, leave.
If you don’t think I’m a good father, leave.
If you think you have something to teach me, leave.
If you can’t see me for who I am, leave.

I’m fed up with abuse and rejection.
I’m sick of everything that was fake.
I’m finished being pushed around.
I’m done being falsely accused.
I know who I am.
So leave.

If you want to twist my words, leave.
If you want to manipulate me, leave.
If you want to make it worse, leave.
If you want to take my good, and make it bad, just leave.

Bye.

And don’t come back.
Because I need to heal.
It’s been too long.
I wish I knew before.
I tried.
It’s ok.
Just leave, and don’t come back around.

Keep your thoughts to yourself.
Keep your voice to yourself.
Keep your words to yourself.
Keep your life to yourself.

Stay out of my life.
Stay out of my way.
Stay away from my mind.
Keep away from me.

Because I need to heal.
And life can be nice.
It’s my turn to live
a simple, pleasant life.

Without abuse.
With freedom of speech.
With freedom of religion.
With freedom to be who I am.

With real friends.
People who accept me for who I am.
People who don’t judge my religious beliefs.
People who see how great I am.
People who recognize what a great dad I am.
People who actually love me, without their own agenda for my life.

So please-
Leave.
