Literature Review:
Very few studies showing its effectiveness in improving sexual function. No clinical
trials done showing maca root reduces menopausal symptoms in women. Maca
root use in clinical practice may demonstrate help with improving libido and
improving hormonal imbalances.
Literature Review done by Shin et al. found there might be a positive effect of maca
on sexual dysfunction or sexual desire in healthy menopausal women or healthy
adult men. Also significant effects found using maca in patients with erectile
dysfunction. Overall… review provided limited evidence for the effectiveness of
using maca root in improving sexual function. The limited number of trials, limited
sample size and average methodological quality limit the potential to draw firm
conclusions on its use.
