Toilet Yoga: Sidebends! (One of my favorites)
Hi! I’m Dr. Moses, and this is the Toilet Yoga SIDEBENDS!
Please consult your doctor before starting ANY exercise program, and if you get dizzy please stop and sit on the floor, so as not to fall.
Alrighty, so the benefits of sidebends are many.
- It stretches your abdominal muscles.
- It opens up your colon, if it’s all floppy and mushed together. (“mushed together” is official medical terminology)
- It opens up your spine, allowing the nerves to flow freely to the rest of your ENTIRE body.
- It stretches your spinal ligaments, which will help with back pain.
Sidebends target the lower back, but also help the mid-back and neck, depending on how well you do the stretch.
First sit down on the toilet. Bend over to one side, and take three deep breaths, in and out through the nose.
Lengthen the spine as you inhale, and move deeper into the stretch as you exhale.
You may need to use the trash can or a yoga brick to hold yourself up, if you are not as flexible as I am. I don’t blame you, I’ve been a serious toilet yoga practitioner for years- everything takes time! 🙂
And repeat for the other side!
To watch me do it (and I’m good!) watch the video above.
Well, I’m Dr. Moses, thank you for joining me-
